LEARN MORE ABOUT JOHN
I was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado where I found my passion for the outdoors and my love for hunting and fishing at an early age. As a kid, I spent countless hours on the water, from pursuing trophy lake trout to chasing bug hatches up the many tributaries. When the days got shorter and the weather began to change, so would my mentality — that’s when I would put the fishing rod down and pulled out the bow and rifle to chase big game. I harvested my first bull elk when I was 14, and from that moment on, my passion to pursue wild game became all-consuming.
At the age of 19, I started guiding archery and gun hunters on their dream elk and deer hunts on horseback in the massive West Elk Wilderness of Colorado each fall. In the winter and early spring months, my focus switched to migratory birds and decoying for the biggest tom turkey I could find. I would then guide fly fishing and spent most of my summer days floating the Gunnison River. My passion for guiding eventually became my career, and I currently co-own a big game outfit in Colorado where we guide high-end trophy hunts. We guide on one of Colorado’s premier mountain ranches where we have spent years building elk and deer habitat, and as a result, we have seen a large increase in the game herds on the ranch.
My whitetail addiction began when I was 20 after a good friend invited me to join him on a hunt in Nebraska. It only took a couple of hours sitting in the tree stand to make me hooked forever. The desire to study and pursue whitetail has always been on top of my mind, and now 16 years later, the fire is stronger than ever. The whitetail deer is my favorite big game species to hunt. I have always said most big game hunting is a game of checkers, but whitetail is a game of chess. The strategy is crucial, and how you spend the off-season — creating new habitats, food plots, waterholes, mock scrapes, and then figuring out the best tree to be in to capitalize on all the effort — sets you up for success. When it all comes together, whitetail hunting is unbelievably rewarding.
I have an equal passion for real estate that is tied to hunting and agricultural properties, and I bring the same strategic planning and mentality to guiding my clients through the buying and selling process. If you are looking to purchase your next dream hunting property, I would love to help you find the ideal land features so you gain the most value for your dollar and a great return on your investment. Or, if you are looking to sell a property, I will go above and beyond to highlight and market your land’s best assets so you get top dollar. It’s more than just dirt, it’s a lifestyle.
Hunting and real estate is a full-time passion for me and I look forward to sharing them with you!
